Our concept detaches from the notion of the closed and uniform space structures of schools, kindergartens and care homes. We designed buildings that have smaller and friendlier masses that are closer to the human scale. Especially for schools and kindergartens it is essential to adapt to the children's cognition of space, so they can feel comfortable in every part of the building. The open and playful structure suits the open-minded philosophy of the Waldorf movement. The building complex consists of a curved ground floor, and orthogonal upper floors. The soft bottom part gives place to social functions, such as gathering in the assembly hall, places of contemplation, and meeting in the common areas of the building. The cubic parts enclose the rational, and more functional parts such as classrooms in the school, play rooms in the kindergarten, and living units in the care home. The curved surface enables fluid and flexible space usage, and playful atmosphere for the children and teens of the school and kindergarten. The bowl-like geometry also strengthens the community, and provides a familiar and warm atmosphere. Moving inside the buildings becomes a dynamic experience between different views of Mother Nature, emphasised by the rich space structure. The barrier between the natural and built environment is further blended by the landscape-like formation of the ground floor.
